For people plagued by unwanted lines and wrinkles on their face, Botox could be the perfect solution. At Vogue Dental Care in Luton, this is just one of the facial rejuvenation treatments we offer to help combat the signs of ageing.
Ask your dentist about Botox treatment
Here at our Luton dental practice, we know that feeling good about your appearance means more than just having a beautiful smile. Unwanted lines and wrinkles such as frown lines, smoker’s lines and crow’s feet can make you feel self-conscious as they can make you look much older than you feel.
Once upon a time the only option was plastic surgery, but now there are several non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures that can combat the premature signs of ageing and restore a more youthful appearance to your skin. Botox is among the most popular of these treatments.
The key to producing a natural-looking result is to carefully deliver a precise amount of botulinum toxin A (what Botox is made of) to the correct areas of the face. It works by blocking nerve impulses and forcing the tiny facial muscles to relax, thus smoothing out the skin.
Dentists are very knowledgeable about facial anatomy, which means they are well qualified to deliver facial rejuvenation treatments in a safe and controlled manner. At Vogue Dental Care in Luton our practitioners are highly experienced and fully trained in treatment with Botox and dermal fillers.
What is Botox used to treat?
The common areas of treatment include:
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Smoker’s lines
- Furrows between the eyebrows
- Blepharospasm (uncontrollable twitching of the eyes)
Botox is also useful for patients who suffer from excess sweating. To find out how our facial rejuvenation treatments can help you, please contact a member of our Luton-based team today.

Botox from a dentist?

This is a skilled procedure that is best performed by a medically-trained professional, to ensure the best results possible.
What is Botox?
Botox uses a purified version of the botulinum type A toxin to smooth out wrinkles and pockets of fat on the face, giving a more youthful look to the skin. It is most commonly used on the forehead and the upper part of the face, treating frown lines and crow’s feet.
At our Luton clinic one of our skilled practitioners will carefully inject just enough botulinum toxin to smooth out these lines without your face looking frozen or unnatural. This is a quick, safe and pain-free procedure that only takes a few minutes.
Results will develop over four to five days after treatment and will last between three and four months depending on which areas are treated.
Many procedures fall under the umbrella of cosmetic dentistry. At Vogue Dental Care in Luton, our experienced team have helped many patients to achieve the smile they’ve always wanted with an individual, bespoke treatment plan.
While some patients come to the dentist looking for a single treatment, others find it beneficial to combine cosmetic dentistry options to create the smile of their dreams.

At our Luton dental clinic we offer both home and in-practice teeth whitening, as well as a combination of both. We use the popular Nitewhite, Zoom and Enlighten whitening systems.
More and more people are turning to cosmetic dentistry to straighten their teeth. Here at Vogue Dental Care, Luton, we offer a wide range of discreet orthodontic treatments that are invisible or near invisible, so that nobody will know you are having treatment.

Many patients considering cosmetic dentistry know they want to improve their smile, but are unsure which treatments would be best for them. At our Luton dental practice we offer smile makeovers that enable you to find out more about the various treatment options and, with the advice of your skilled cosmetic dentist, make an informed choice about your treatment options.
Here are some of the options we offer at Vogue Dental Care, Luton:
Veneers are a popular cosmetic treatment that can disguise a multitude of sins. If your teeth are permanently stained (that is, stains cannot be removed by teeth whitening) or discoloured, have mild gaps or are slightly crooked, porcelain veneers may be the answer.
They are thin pieces of porcelain applied to the front of the teeth to hide discolouration, gaps, minor alignment issues and even to cover small cracks. Veneers are one of the most common procedures in cosmetic dentistry, and are attached to the teeth with strong dental adhesive. The results are beautiful and natural.
This is probably the most common procedure in cosmetic dentistry. It involves the use of whitening gel to safely remove stains from your teeth. This is safe when carried out by a dentist.
You can opt to have a single dose of treatment here in our Luton dental practice, can choose to have home teeth whitening treatment, or can have a combination of both home and in-practice whitening – the choice is yours.

Botox is an increasingly popular way of rejuvenating your skin, giving your back the youthful looks that the stresses and strains of everyday life can take away. At Vogue Dental Care in Luton, we provide a wide range of facial rejuvenation treatments, because we believe in treating the whole patient, not just their teeth.
What is Botox, and what is it used for?
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin A that has proved highly effective in rejuvenating the skin of the face, halting the signs of ageing by smoothing out unwanted lines and wrinkle. It is commonly used to get rid of wrinkles and frown lines on the forehead, as well as lifting jowls and treating pockets beneath the eyes.
Another popular use of Botox is to prevent excessive sweating, which can be a serious cause of embarrassment for those who suffer from it. If this applies to you, don’t despair – contact our Luton clinic to see how we can help.
Facial rejuvenation from a dentist?
We appreciate that not everyone would expect to find Botox and other facial rejuvenation treatments provided by a dentist. However, there are good reasons to have treatment here. As with any cosmetic procedure, it should only be performed by properly medically trained professionals – dentists or doctors.
As dentists, we have an excellent knowledge of facial anatomy, meaning we can deliver treatment safely and painlessly at our Luton clinic. This is a walk-in treatment that only takes a few minutes.
How does it work?
Botulinum toxin works by forcing the muscles of the face to relax through blocking nerve impulses. This smooths out lines and wrinkles and pockets of fat.
Treatment is non-invasive and takes just a few minutes. The results will be subtle but noticeable, and will become apparent over the course of a few days. They will usually last about four months.
Keeping good oral health is a year-round responsibility. However, when the leaves turn and the year nears its end, oral health and safety means balancing the requirements of mouth care and the joy of walking around snow covered streets.
Although winter means beautiful landscapes, exciting winter sporting activities and snowball fights; it also means drier air, higher risk of becoming dehydrated and the danger of flu and other diseases. Our team of experts are here to hand out practical tips to good oral health during winter:
Drink Plenty of Water
Winter is a delightful time for sledding, skiing or playing out in the cold. This is exciting and makes for a fun experience, but also leads to higher risks of dehydration. Children are especially prone to dehydration, as they weigh less and aren’t as able to recognise thirst.
When you play sports, take a sip every ten to 15 minutes, even if you aren’t thirsty. Tap water contains fluoride, which makes it a good choice for protecting teeth.
Guard Your Teeth
Winter sports can be strenuous. Injuries during sports make up between 10 and 39 per cent of dental injuries in kids and young adults. Provide protection from physical damage, such as a mouth guard or facemask to reduce risk for dental injury.
You can pick up a mouth guard from the store or have a dentist or specialist fit your child a custom-made mouth guard.
Maintain Good Oral Habits
Keeping with good dental habits in the winter is a must. Brush at least twice daily and floss once a day, not only to keep the teeth clean, but also to help fight the cold or flu virus.
Watch the Hot Cocoa
Hot drinks and treats are popular during the cold season. While these treats may relieve the freezing temperature, it can be bad news for your teeth and mouth, as it contains a lot of sugar, which leads to cavities and decay.
When you have to rehydrate, choose water instead of juices or warm cups of coffee. As for hot chocolate, try a version using real milk and dark chocolate, which contains less sugar than other options.
Protecting your oral health this winter is important, as the weather can turn to extremes. Should you need further guidance and direction for your mouth and teeth, consult with our dental experts today. We are eager to help you maintain good oral health.
It used to be that bridges and dentures were the only the options for addressing missing teeth, but patients today can choose a more permanent and natural-looking solution. Vogue Dental Care offers dental implants for patients who wish to replace a missing tooth with the best choice possible.
Implant procedures vary depending on the tooth in question, but the process typically consists of a two-stage process where a temporary abutment and crown is first attached and then replaced with a permanent implant set. The goal of the treatment is osseointegration—the process of titanium attaching to the bone. It is only after this that the tooth is “loaded” with the permanent crown.
The healing time or osseointegration takes approximately three months.
Regardless of the case, treatment starts with your dentist installing a temporary crown to protect the exposed abutment over the course of what may be a lengthy osseointegration period. What makes this extra tricky, however, is that the temporary tooth must not be in constant functional contact with other teeth.
Implant for a back tooth does not have a large cosmetic demand, so those single stage implants usually end up with an exposed healing abutment but no temporary crown.
Another factor to be considered is the location of the tooth. Molars at the back of the mouth sit on softer bones and it may take a longer amount of time before full ossointegration is possible. Two-stage implants allow enough time for this and can ensure the new implant does not move a lot.
At Vogue Dental Care, we will consider these things before carrying out the procedure. Our implants are made of the recommended titanium screw with a tooth-coloured crown. Our implants are labour-intensive and carried out by qualified and experienced practitioners.

Apparently, a passionate kiss does not only induce butterflies in your stomach—it also rids your teeth of unwanted cavities.
On average, humans spend at least two weeks of their lifetime kissing someone. Despite tales of swapping spit and bacteria, kissing is an activity that promotes positivity for your oral health. With this in mind, it gives you more reasons to pull your loved one aside for an extra snog on the side.
Passionate Kissing for Your Teeth
Kissing promotes significant advantages that promote oral health through your saliva. Saliva contains substances such as bacteria, fungi and viruses, some of which are effective in keeping your mouth clean. Deep kissing increases your saliva flow, which keeps the mouth, teeth, and gums healthier.
Keep in mind that 80 per cent of the saliva’s bacteria are common to everyone; only 20 per cent are unique to you. The exchange of saliva during a kiss encourages the immune system to create more antibodies, which defends your body from infection.
In addition, kissing also keeps your teeth from cavities and decay. The stimulated flow of saliva neutralises the acid and flushes away excess food particles. The extra saliva washes the bacteria off your teeth, which breaks down stubborn oral plaque.
Good Kissing Practices
With the benefits in tow, kissing your loved one seems more appealing than ever. Still, there are things to remember in order to reduce the risk of passing or catching infection while you snog.
Remember not to kiss when the other person is sick or has an active cold sore around their lips or in the mouth. If you do so, you increase your risk of catching the same condition. Also, while kissing offers numerous benefits, it pays to maintain good oral hygiene. In fact, you owe it to your partner.
Our dental experts here at Vogue Cosmetic Dentistry encourage you to practice a good brushing and flossing routine at least twice a day, especially before you go to bed. Sleep slows the production of saliva, which is essential to keep your teeth cavity-free.
We want you to get the most out of your oral health. Get in touch with us for a smile worth another kiss.
Some patients come up with surprising yet alarming ways to handle dental problems. They prefer to wait for the pain to go away instead of going straight to the dentist. For them, enduring the toothache is better than facing the pain and possibility of losing their teeth through extraction.
Such patients have misconceptions on two counts.
First, they put themselves at risk for severe dental problems that will require extraction if they treat their teeth that way. Second, dentists will not always resort to extraction if there are other ways to save their patients’ teeth. One of those methods is root canal treatment.
Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment is a procedure wherein dentists will remove damaged or infected nerves and pulp inside the teeth. This treatment will save teeth from severe damage and prevent them from infecting adjacent ones. Furthermore, it will help prevent drastic dental treatments such as extraction.
Dentists will take an x-ray to see the extent of the teeth’s infection. They will drill a hole in the tooth and remove the pulp, bacteria, decayed nerve tissue and related debris. They will fill the hole with medicine, temporary and permanent filling materials to prevent damage in the future. They will then use files and water to clean the root canal afterwards.
This procedure is safe and relatively comfortable as dentists apply anaesthesia before they begin. They will keep the mouth dry and free of saliva during treatment as well. Rubber dams will be placed around the infected tooth to prevent pain and the spread of infection.
Root canal treatment is relatively successful in saving teeth from extractions and serious dental problems. A study published in the International Dental Journal revealed that basic root canal treatment helps preserve teeth even with major substance loss, which then prevents preterm removal of teeth. Out of the 70 patients who underwent basic root canal treatments, only one tooth was lost.
Saving Teeth through Root Canal Treatments
Findings on the root canal treatment are proof that dentists can save teeth without resorting to extraction. As such, it is important for patients to visit dentists instead of waiting for the pain to escalate to something more serious.
At Vogue Dental Care, we want you to have good oral health. We conduct comprehensive root canal treatments to save your teeth, with extraction as the least option. With our services, you can flash a nice smile all the time.

It is still possible to have smelly breath even if you brush and floss your teeth. Whilst you can blame that foul-smelling odour from onion and garlic you just had for lunch, they are not the only thing that could affect your breath. It is best to understand the causes of this smelly problem, so you can address the source and fight halitosis for good.
Here are the worst offenders of bad breath:
While it is not that prominent, bad breath from digestive problems can occur. Research suggests that ulcers can cause bacteria that can lead to bad breath in the mouth. Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease or GERD is also another cause of smelly breath. This occurs when the stomach content flows back up into the oesophagus and causes foul gas to come out of your mouth.
Dental health problems, such as tooth decay, cavities, gum disease, and bad oral hygiene may also cause bad breath. This is because these issues usually come with unpleasant and smelling bacteria that can affect the whole mouth. Brushing twice daily along with regular dental checkups can help, as your dentist can address the problem before they become more serious.
Coffee and Cigarettes
The habit of drinking coffee and smoking daily can make your breath seem stale. Both coffee and cigarette introduce the actual smell that can lead to unpleasant mouth odours. Cigarettes, furthermore, promote the growth of the bacteria that causes foul smell in your mouth. It is best to stop smoking to reduce your risk of gum disease, and therefore prevent bad breath.
Food particles from the meals you just had can also cause bad breath. This is because they may stick between teeth and gums, leaving an unpleasant odour for hours. It can help to chew sugarless gum or brush several minutes later to remove food particles and get rid of your bad breath.
Low carbohydrate diets can cause the body to break down fat, which produces smelly chemicals called ketones. Brushing, flossing and scraping of the tongue is not enough to solve this problem. You need to modify for your eating habits and consider including carbohydrates to banish the foul smell.
Don’t let bad breath cramp your style and affect your confidence. Browse through our website today and find more about our oral hygiene services to help maintain optimum oral health and fresh breath.
